Former Hillsong Pastor Pleads Guilty to Assaulting Wife

Former Hillsong pastor Pasquale “Pat” Mesiti has pleaded guilty to assaulting his second wife, despite formerly denying the charge.

Christian Today reports that Mesiti was asked to step down as a Hillsong pastor in 2002, following allegations of adultery and reports that he slept with prostitutes.

On Monday, Mesiti pleaded guilty to one count of common assault. He is currently on bail until his sentencing on March 23. Mesiti reportedly grabbed wife Andrea “by the neck” upon discovering that she had held a New Year’s party at their home in Sydney.

Australia’s 9News reports that Mesiti and his wife were separated last year and are now in the final stages of a divorce.

After stepping down from his position with Hillsong and being stripped of his license to minister, Mesiti became a motivational speaker and self-help figure.

Mesiti’s website states that he is an “income acceleration coach” and is hoping to “raise 10,000 millionaires through his works.”

He also promises to “shift your mindset, touch your heart and increase your wealth.”
