FedEx Employee Injures 6, Kills Self in GA Warehouse Shooting

A FedEx employee opened fire in a Kennesaw, Georgia warehouse early Tuesday morning. Six employees were injured in the attack, one critically.

Authorities have identified the gunman as a package handler, but have not yet released the man’s name. They believe the attacker worked at the Kennesaw location.

Police were immediately notified of the situation; 100 officers arrived at the warehouse and surrounded the building.

Authorities pronounced the attacker dead shortly before 9 a.m.

“When he was found we know that he had a shotgun. It was the only weapon he had at that time...He deceased from what we believe was a self-inflicted gunshot wound,” a police sargeant told ABC News.

The warehouse was searched for any other weapons or devices; none were found.

“FedEx is aware of the situation. Our primary concern is the safety and wellbeing of our team member, first responders and others affected. FedEx is cooperating with authorities,” the company said in a statement.

Scott Fiedler, FedEx spokesman said, “Our thoughts and prayers are with those affected, and with their families and friends...we are focused on the need of our team members and cooperating with the law enforcement investigation of this tragedy.”
