Family Visits Imprisoned Pastor Saeed in Prison

For the first time since his transfer to Rajai Shahr, another prison in Iran, American pastor Saeed Abedini was allowed to visit with members of his Iranian family. The family had been denied visitation in the weeks following the transfer.

“Pastor Saeed remains in the violent criminal ward – Ward 3 – of Rajai Shahr, sharing at 3 meter by 3 meter cell with other prisoners,” according to Jordan Sekulow of the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ). “This particular ward of the deadly prison holds some of the worst criminals in Iran – murderers and rapists.”

International pressure on Iran to release the pastor is increasing. Last week the U.S. Senate unanimously passed a bipartisan resolution calling for his release.

On Wednesday, ACLJ launched another Twitter campaign on behalf of imprisoned American pastor Saeed Abedini. The message, aimed at Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif was simple: To @JZarif & @HassanRouhani: Free American #PastorSaeed Abedini. He is no threat to Iran's national security #SaveSaeed

“To save Saeed, we have to apply relentless pressure, through every conceivable form of media,” Jordan Sekulow said on Wednesday. “All too often, when people lose interest in prisoners of conscience, the prisoner will lose his life.  We cannot forget Pastor Saeed, and we must make sure that Iran knows we haven’t forgotten.”
