Extremists Kill 12 in Nigerian Christian Villages

According to the Associated Press at ABC News, Muslim extremists killed 12 civilians this weekend in Nigeria. Witnesses say that this Saturday eight people were killed at a wedding celebration in Tashan-Alede, and on Sunday four more were slain in the village of Kwajffa. All witnesses spoke anonymously, due to fear of retaliation, and a security official confirmed the attacks but did not specify the number of causalities.

Attacks have continued throughout the country, even though troops have been deployed to address the situation since May. Nigeria reported low church attendance over Christmas because of ever-present threats from the Islamic terrorist group Boko Haram, and Release International reported over 70 murders of Christians in Nigeria in the month of November.
