Evangelical Leader Urges Pastors to Run for Office in Effort to 'Save America'

Evangelical Christian leader David Lane is urging pastors to run for office. The Founder of the American Renewal Project says Christians in politics can “save America.”

"Government is not going to save America. Wall Street is not going to save America. The Republican Party is not going to save America. If America is going to be saved it will be done by Christian men and women restoring a Judeo-Christian culture to the country,” Lane said.

Christian Today reports that Lane was inspired by his pastor who ran for California state assembly.

"If 1,000 pastors in 2016 felt like the Lord was calling them to run for office, and they each had 300 volunteers, then that's 300,000 people on the grass-roots level," Lane said.

"The Constitution says the state is to keep out of the church, it doesn't say the church is to keep out of the state...It's part of a spiritual battle. If we are going to survive as a nation, we have to have a spiritual resurrection."
