Elderly Couple Trapped by Flooding Orders Food from Chick-fil-A and Also Gets a Rescue

An elderly couple who needed to evacuate their Houston home due to the floods brought by Hurricane Harvey were rescued in a surprising way by surprising heroes.

The Christian Post reports that last Monday morning, J.C. Spencer and his wife, Karen, realized they would need to evacuate because of the rising floodwaters. Spencer couldn’t get a response from 911, so he decided to call Chick-fil-A and place his usual order, while also asking for some help.

"I ordered two grilled chicken burritos with extra egg and a boat," Spencer shared in an interview with Good Morning America. "And can you believe that one of the managers of Chick-fil-A, she sent her husband to pick us up and we are so grateful."

Chick-fil-A manager Jeffrey Urban had stopped by the franchise that morning to check on things even though the restaurant was closed due to the floodwaters. While he was there, he heard the phone ringing. When he picked it up, it was the Spencers.

Urban called around and coordinated a rescue effort for the couple. They sent over two jetskis and a boat for the Spencers' possessions and were able to successfully get the couple to safety.

Photos of the Spencers and the Chick-fil-A rescuers on the jetskis have gone viral.

Praise God for allowing everything to work out so this couple could get to safety, although it is unclear if they ever got their breakfast burritos!
