Last month, Bob Coy resigned from his post as Calvary Chapel lead pastor when he admitted his “moral failure.” The church has now announced Pastor Doug Saunder will take on the position.

CBS Miami reports Saunders has been a member of the church staff for 14 years.

Members of the congregation are celebrating this new chapter for the church “with unanimous support and enthusiasm,” the church blog says.

“He’s a great guy, great character and a good family man so he’s a great foundation for him to have as a pastor here, church member Cullen Montgomery said.

Rosaly Guimaraes said, “No matter what happen God is above all things and the principle will never change. Pastors can change but the principle of God’s love will never change.”

The Calvary Chapel board believes that Sauder’s experience leading many services and serving as 4KIDS of South Florida president will prepare him for the role.
