Democrat Led House Talks Impeachment of President Trump

As Democrats take control of the House of Representatives, incoming Speaker Nancy Pelosi says that there could be talks of impeachment of President Donald Trump pending an investigation.

"We have to wait and see what happens with the Mueller report," Pelosi said, referring to special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation. "We shouldn't be impeaching for a political reason, and we shouldn't avoid impeachment for a political reason. So we'll just have to see how it comes.”

Over the summer Pelosi had said impeachment was “off the table,” but she told NBC that even an indictment is “an open discussion.”

Meanwhile, many of those incoming Democratic lawmakers are working to hold to their campaign promises of impeaching Trump.

Rep. Rashida Tlaib(D-MI) told MoveOn.org that she told her son, “We’re gonna go in there and we’re going to impeach the motherf---er.”

She later tweeted that she “will always speak truth to power.”

Rep. Brad Sherman (D-CA) is also working to try to impeach the president. He filed articles of impeachment in 2017 and is planning to introduce those papers again this year.

"There is no reason it shouldn't be before the Congress," Sherman said. "Every day, Donald Trump shows that leaving the White House would be good for our country."
