Deadly Quake Topples Rural Area in China

At least 75 people were found dead after a powerful earthquake struck a rural area of China on Monday, CBN News reports. More than 400 people were injured and thousands of homes were damaged or destroyed. The 6.6-magnitude quake hit near the city of Dingxi, about 766 miles west of Beijing. Scientists say the quake struck only about 12 miles below the surface, making it much more destructive. Rock and mudslides made it difficult for rescue teams to reach the area. Forecasters predict heavy rain and further landslides later in the week, warning that there will be a greater need for shelter.
