Controversial Holocaust Jesus Video Removed

The Australian branch of Jews for Jesus recently removed a video featuring Jesus being sent to the gas chamber of a Nazi concentration camp from their homepage; the video had sparked outrage from viewers.

The video concludes with scripture from Isaiah 53:4-5.

“Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.”

Jews for Jesus executive director David Bricken said that the video was intended to have a message “message of hope.”

Associate executive director Susan Perlman said, “We want Jewish people to understand that the sufferings inflicted at the hands of the Nazi’s were in no way based on the teaching of Jesus. In fact, he suffered and died on our behalf to show us the love of God.”

Many people responded to the video, calling it “insensitive” and “tasteless.” The Australian branch has since apologized reports Christian Today.

The controversial video remains prominent on the US and UK Jews for Jesus sites.
