"Clavius" is Newest Bible-Based Film in Production

A new film is joining the Hollywood trend of Bible-based movies.

“Clavius,” will feature the story of what happened in the 50 days after Jesus was crucified. Joseph Fiennes, of “Shakespeare in Love” fame, will star as Clavius, a Roman army commander sent by Pontius Pilate to investigate Jesus’ resurrection. The search for Jesus’ body will spark the army commander to question his beliefs.

Tom Felton, known as “Draco Malfoy” from the Harry Potter series, is reportedly appearing in the film as well; his role is so far unspecified. Patrick Aiello will be producing the movie.

“Clavius” is set to release in theatres around Easter 2015. It joins such movies as “Son of God,” Noah,” “God’s Not Dead,” “Heaven Is for Real,” and the upcoming “Exodus,” “Ben-Hur” and “Christ the Lord,” as Hollywood studios race one another to compete for the attention of Christian audiences.
