Carly Fiorina Finds Support among Conservative Women

Although Donald Trump is still leading in many national polls, Carly Fiornia has broken into the lead among conservative women.

The Christian Post reports that, among women who attended the National Federation of Republican Women's recent convention, 27 percent named Fiorina as their top candidate choice, with only 14 percent favoring Trump.

Fiorina lobbied for official debate rules to be changed to allow her to get onto the main debate stage. She took advantage of the opportunity and gave what many critics called the best performance of the evening.

She is becoming more well-known to the American public, and her numbers in the polls are on the rise.

Writing for the Christian Post, Julie Roys provides four reasons why Fiorina is gaining ground, particularly among women.

Firstly, Roys says, Fiorina wants what women want. Polls have shown that more women are supporting Republicans than Democrats, likely because the average woman is concerned not as much about abortion and contraception, but about caring for her children, and appreciate that Republican women politicians are addressing topics like Common Core.

Secondly, Roys says, Fiorina passionately defends the unborn. Her emotional and passionate comments about Planned Parenthood and abortion in last week’s Republican debate testify to her stance on the issue.

Thirdly, Fiorina promotes the dignity of women. Fiorina brilliantly responded to Trump’s criticism of her looks in the debate by not stooping to his level. When asked about putting a woman on the $10 bill, Fiorina said, “I think, honestly, it’s a gesture. We ought to recognize that women are not a special interest group. Women are the majority of this nation."

Lastly, Roys says, Fiorina will beat Hillary Clinton. A number of critics have commented on Fiorina’s sharp wit, her articulate responses, and her knowledge on the issues. "I would love to see Fiorina debate Clinton head-to-head. Anybody agree?" Denny Burk, author and professor of Biblical Studies at Boyce College said.

It remains to be seen whether Fiorina will continue to climb in the polls. The next GOP debate is set for October 28.
