Brad Pitt Opens Up about Christian Upbringing in New Interview

Popular actor Brad Pitt recently did an interview with GQ magazine in which he discusses his Christian upbringing.

The interview includes a photo shoot of the A-list actor in several of America’s National Parks, but it also includes a candid conversation with Pitt about his Christian upbringing as well as his decision to quit drinking.

Pitt shares that he grew up in a Christian household: “First Baptist, which is the cleaner, stricter, by-the-book Christianity.”

“Then, when I was in high school,” he continues, “my folks jumped to a more charismatic movement, which got into speaking in tongues and raising your hands and some goofy-a** sh**.”

Relevant magazine notes that, from the way Pitt discusses Christianity, it is clear he hasn’t embraced it, but he did acknowledge that the people whom he saw living out their faith truly believed what they were practicing.

“I know they believe it. I know they’re releasing something. God, we’re complicated. We’re complicated creatures.”

Pitt also shared that he recently decided to quit drinking. “I had to step away for a minute. And truthfully I could drink a Russian under the table with his own vodka. I was a professional. I was good … Don’t want to live that way anymore.”

Join us in praying for Brad Pitt and other celebrities who know about Christianity but haven’t yet chosen to embrace it for themselves.
