Boko Haram Destroys 500 Homes in Adamawa

Boko Haram militants have reportedly destroyed 500 homes in Adamawa State, Nigeria. The militant group attacked the Kubi and Watu villages unchallenged, as law enforcement officials and military personnel have vacated the area.

Several civilians died in the attacks, though the death count is not known.

“Since the complete take-over of Michika and Madagali by the insurgents on September 7, 2014, no single soldier has been noticed in the area. The only thing we see are jet fighters which come from Yola, the state capital to drop bombs and go back. Our people are in the state of complete helplessness,” Adamawa residents said.

Kubi and Watu citizens maintain that the hometown of the Chief of Defense Staff, Alex Badeh still has a large military presence for protection against the militants.

“Government seems not to be coming to our aids as the insurgents control everything in our local government,” the residents said.
