Boko Haram Attack Kills Dozens in Nigeria

Not long after terrorists killed 129 people in the Paris attacks, Boko Haram terrorists killed over 30 people in Nigeria in a deadly suicide attack.

Christian Today reports that the explosion hit a fruit and vegetable stand in the city of Yola in northeastern Nigeria.

Thirty-two people lost their lives and 80 were wounded, according to reports from the Red Cross and the National Emergency Management Agency.

Boko Haram has not claimed responsibility for the attack, but Christian Today reports that the attack bore all the hallmarks of the terrorist group’s tactics. Boko Haram has killed thousands in Nigeria and surrounding countries in its quest to enforce Sharia law.

Similar to President Obama’s comments that the Islamic State has been “contained” days before the Paris attacks, only a few days before the attack in Nigeria, Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari visited Yola and stated that Boko Haram was losing strength and would soon be defeated.

Both attacks serve as a reminder that terrorism remains a real threat that must be addressed.

Alhaji Ahmed, who owns a shop in the market where the blast took place, stated, “The ground near my shop was covered with dead bodies. I helped to load 32 dead bodies into five vehicles.”

According to Christian Today, Boko Haram began its military campaign in 2009 and has recently joined the Islamic State as the Islamic State’s African arm.

The militants have lost most of the territory they took over earlier this year, and have now resorted to attacking public places like markets, bus stations, and churches.
