Boko Haram Abducts Dozens of Boys from Nigerian Village

Boko Haram militants have kidnapped dozens of boys and man from a village in Nigeria, Reuters reports. The abduction on Sunday (Aug. 10) occurred while the Muslim extremist group raided the northeast village of Doron Baga. Witnesses reported that 97 boys and men were missing after the raid.

“They left no men or boys in the place; only young children, girls and women," witness Halima Adamu said. "They were shouting 'Allah Akbar' (God is greatest), shooting sporadically. There was confusion everywhere. They started parking our men and boys into their vehicles, threatening to shoot whoever disobey them. Everybody was scared."

During the attack, the militants also killed six older men and wounded five more; houses in the village were burned. There was little resistance from the villagers, as there is no military presence in the area.

It is believed that the kidnapped men and boys will be forced to become Boko Haram fighters.

The latest attack comes four months after 270 girls were abducted from Borno State. About 200 of the girls remain in captivity.
