At Least 2 Dead in San Bernardino Elementary School Shooting

The latest report puts the death toll at three. A man reportedly entered the school classroom and shot his estranged wife, a teacher. An eight-year-old student was caught in the line of fire and also died after being taken to the hospital. The man then shot himself. One other student was injured in the shooting and has been hospitalized.

 

Three people are reportedly dead in a school shooting that took place in a San Bernardino, California school district.

According to a report from Fox News, the shooting took place at at North Park Elementary school Monday morning. The shooter is thought to possibly be dead as well.

Not much is yet known about the shooting, but San Bernardino Police Chief Jarrod Burguan tweeted, “We believe this to be a murder suicide. Happened in a class room. Two students have been transported to the hospital.”

“It’s a developing situation,” added Eric Sherwin, a San Bernardino Fire Department spokesman.

The eyes of the nation were centered on San Bernardino not long ago when another mass shooting occured in 2015 at a company Christmas party, which killed 14 people.

The city has become increasingly more violent in recent years. The Los Angeles Times reports that slayings rose an astounding 41 percent from 2015 to 2016.
