Archbishop Ben Kwashi: Nigerian Government Must Show It Cares about the Weak

Archbishop of Jos Ben Kwashi has said that the Nigerian government needs to do more to help weak and vulnerable citizens.

Kwashi reported that two bombs killed at least 40 people at a crowded market in Jos Thursday evening; most of the victims were poor and defenseless.

Witness of the attack Tanko Mohammed said, "I saw a flash of light and heard a loud boom. Afterwards there was debris everywhere and mutilated bodies.”

Militant group Boko Haram is believed to be behind the attack; the Islamic extremist group has orchestrated similar attacks in the past.

Kwashi said that it is the government’s responsibility to respond.

"Government must step up, to show that it cares about the weak, about the poor, about those who have no means at all in the society," he said.
