Alabama Megachurch Opens Bowling Alley and Climbing Wall

A megachurch in Alabama added an entertainment complex to its building, including a 12-lane bowling alley, climbing wall, basketball court, fitness center, arcade and more. Faith Chapel Christian Center calls its addition “The Bridge,” a compound of six domes that houses the leisure space.

Pastor Dr. Michael D. Moore says that the The Bridge was constructed to draw people to church.

“We believe we can really meet the needs of the community. It will bridge people from the world to the kingdom,” Moore said. “People may not want to come to a church, but they’ll come to a bowling alley. People have needs other than spiritual needs. There’s a need for safe, clean, uplifting, family-oriented entertainment.”

The Bridge also includes a teen dance club, an adult club with no smoking or alcohol, a banquet hall, an indoor playground and a lookout tower reports Christian Today

The cost of construction was $26 million, and was funded exclusively by giving from the 6,400 member congregation.

Moore said, “It’s been a challenge. Our people are great givers. Tithes and offering has been our only fundraising. It’s been a miracle.”
