2 Beloved Chicago Pastors Killed in Hit-and-Run

Last Monday, two beloved Chicago pastors were killed in a suspected hit-and-run on the Far South Side of Chicago.

According to Fox 32, Apostle Yvonne Lee-Wilson of Body of Christ Deliverance Ministries Training Center, 65, and her husband, retired Pastor Adelbert Wilson, 69, were leaving a prayer service at their church when someone believed to be driving a white SUV hit the couple's vehicle. The impact caused the Wilsons' vehicle to roll over and crash into a bus shelter.

The Christian Post reports that the couple was found at 111th Street and Cottage Grove Ave at around 11:15 pm and emergency responders rushed them off to two separate hospitals.

Pastor Lee-Wilson was brought to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where she died, and Pastor Wilson was brought to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he also died.

No arrests have been made so far, but police are investigating the crash. Witnesses recount seeing a white vehicle hit into the Wilsons' car. At the time of this writing, investigators have located a damaged white SUV but have not confirmed whether this is the same vehicle used in the hit-and-run.

According to ABC 7 News, Lee-Wilson's sister, Geneva Davis, told reporters that she was distraught by the news of her sister and brother-in-law's deaths. "I am in awe. I don't know how I am feeling, I am broken, I am devastated, angry and frustrated," Davis said.

The grieving sister then urged the person responsible for the Wilsons' deaths to come forward. "I don't know if you realize what you did. You should come forward because you hurt a family, you hurt church members, you hurt people all over," Davis urged. "Not only did you hit them, but you ran," she added.

According to police, Wilson was driving when they were hit by the white SUV.

David recalled that Wilson was "an awesome man of God. He loved his wife, they died together, they were always together they were coming home from church."
She added, "They are going to miss her greatly. Many of them that I reached out to, they are devastated, they have no words."

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, fellow pastor Lolita Luckett echoed those same sentiments, saying, "They were some extremely beautiful people. She was a great woman, and she left a great legacy behind. She touched the lives of many, many people, too many to even count. In and out of Illinois." Lee-Wilson came from a long line of ministers. She worked in ministry for over 35 years and served as the senior pastor at Body of Christ Deliverance Ministries for more than 25 years before she was killed.

The Wilsons, who were married for over 30 years, are survived by two daughters, eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
