Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA) will be using $30,000 from the One Great Hour of Sharing fund to buy and distribute food packages for 5,000 families in the Gaza Strip and 5,000 more on the West Bank, in the Middle East, as reported by the Presbyterian News Service.

Reports are that Palestinians now have over 50 percent unemployment, with 64 percent living at the poverty level. A PDA spokesman said that the "impoverished conditions have impacted thousands of families" and the assistance will help about 60,000 with food packets containing rice, cooking oil, sugar, tea, peas, Nido milk and pasta.

PDA is one of three programs supported by the One Great Hour of Sharing annual offering.
