You Do You Trust?

September 12, 2007

I hope you got to see General David Petraeus and Ambassador Ryan Crocker Monday as they testified before Congress. I also hope you heard the disgusting remarks by some on the left who declared these two men: servants of the Bush administration and, in effect, liars.

Never let facts get in the way of politics. Liberal Democrats have so much invested in the defeat of American forces and the American objective in Iraq that they cannot entertain any information that proves the contrary.

How pathetic is that? In another democratic party a long time ago, most Democrats would have supported a Republican president as he sought to win a military and political victory that must be won. It must be won because the future safety and security of our country is at stake. But you wouldn’t know it from left wing groups like moveon.org, which took out a full-page ad in the New York Times that referred to General Petraeus as “general betray-us.”

Republicans were right to demand that democrats denounce such sentiments. We can’t afford to lose this war. Fortunately, polls show the public largely trusts the military more than politicians.
