When will the Terrorists Strike Again?

When will the terrorists strike again?

Even assuming that the beltway sniper isn’t one of them, the next assault could come very soon. That’s the word from CIA director George Tenet, who testified before congress yesterday.

Tenet said the terror incidents in Kuwait and Indonesia fit a profile and the next attack could be on Americans, including on our territory again. He said the current situation is comparable to what existed in the United States in the summer before the September 11 attacks.

The usual assurances were given that precautions are being taken to defend certain possible targets, but our country is indefensible from terrorists with guns or chemical and biological weapons.

What we need to do we will not do, because it offends our sensibilities. But only by deporting immigrants from certain parts of the world who live in certain places will we improve our level of safety. Again, that is not about to happen, so all we can do is wait for the next explosion to occur.

Perhaps it will come if we strike Iraq. Perhaps sooner. Then what?
