What to Make of the Sequester

Need any more evidence that the sequester is political theater? Consider these stories.

Tax revenue to hit record high this year; on Monday, the first workday of the sequester, 400 federal job openings were posted. The government is still hiring. And how about all of those hundreds of millions of dollars we are sending Egypt and the rebels in Syria? Where is that coming from? China, probably.

The point is the Obama administration has come up with this scenario for one purpose. It isn't about cutting spending. It's about cutting Republicans. Democrats want to re-take the House in next year's election so they can ram through the rest of their socialist-redistribution-Saul Alinsky agenda.

Next comes the debt ceiling and threats of a government shutdown. The administration has had to pull back from some of its more outlandish claims of the sequester's impact. Maybe this time the public won't be fooled. This president never governs; he only campaigns.
