Wars and Rumors of Wars

The world seems to be falling apart, right on schedule. In Northern
Ireland, where I’m spending the next two weeks, peace, which seemed so tantalizingly close is now suspended for at least six weeks while the parties continue to negotiate. Sinn Fein, the political wing of the IRA says it has agreed to put its terrorist weapons "beyond use" but won’t say when and the side loyal to Great Britain is doesn’t trust them.

The Middle East is a bigger mess than ever. The mostly secular West
doesn’t understand so-called suicide bombers. They aren’t committing
suicide. They believe it is the will of Allah to kill Jews. They believe such acts immediately transport them to heaven if they are killed. They’re trained to believe that and to act in such a manner. The West thinks it’s about Israel giving the Palestinians what they want and then they’ll make peace. They will not, because it’s against Allah’s will.

All of this is foretold in Scripture. There will be wars and rumors of wars until Christ’s return. We should not be surprised. It is good for people to attempt to lessen conflict, but they will not succeed in their attempts to make lasting peace because of the sinful heart of man.
