The Rumsfeld Memo

December 5, 2006

Washington is a twitter over the leaked Donald Rumsfeld memo recommending a change in tactics in Iraq and tomorrow’s release of the report by the Iraq study group which is expected to serve, for some, as a call for withdrawal from Iraq.

I see the Rumsfeld memo as stating and restating the obvious: the terrorists change tactics as necessary; why shouldn’t we and the Iraqi government do the same?

For the “pullout now” crowd, the Rumsfeld memo and the study group report will serve as more ammunition in their pursuit of defeat – ours, not the terrorists.

Here’s another dynamic at work. No one fears America anymore. Time was when no country dared to attack the united states or any of its citizens for fear of retaliation. Now it is we who have the fear and the terrorists can do whatever they want. It’s the same with once-proud israel. Liberal diplomacy is running and ruining that country.

We are at a critical juncture in this world war. Which way will we go? We’ll soon know.
