Two liberal Democratic senators -- Jay Rockefeller of West Virginia and Frank Lautenberg of New Jersey -- are out for Rupert Murdoch's head. And they believe they may have found the weapon they need in a parliamentary investigation in London into Murdoch's British newspapers, some of whose employees have been accused of hacking phone lines to obtain information used in stories.
The investigation was led by an attorney for the liberal Labor Party.
There is no question journalistic ethics were breached, but that happens all the time with the liberal media and nothing happens to them. Rockefeller specifically asked the chief investigator whether he can provide any information about "troubling and sometimes criminal conduct" that might have occurred in the U.S. or involved U.S. citizens.
The Left has long wanted to bring down the Murdoch empire in the U.S., which includes Fox News and the Wall Street Journal. That's what this is about.
In Dallas, I'm Cal Thomas.
