The Government and Your Money

Did you hear what Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle said the other day about a tax cut? He said some people - those terrible rich ones - would take the money and buy a Lexus. He thinks that's a bad thing.

What business is it of government to tell us how to spend our money? It's fine for Daschle to talk. He gets driven around in a chauffeured black limousine paid for by the taxpayers. But he doesn't want you to be able to keep more of the money you earn to buy the car, or anything else of your choice.

This is the arrogance of big government liberals. They will tell you how much money you need and can keep. They will determine the car you drive. Remember when former President Clinton said he might favor a tax cut but that you might not spend it wisely?

To liberals, government is all there is, because it represents their source of power. Government is their god, and if you aren't willing to throw your hard-earned money as an offering on government's altar, you are greedy and selfish. I say the government is greedy and selfish. Let my money go and let me decide how to spend and invest it, or give it away to the church and charities of my choice!
