The Clintons and Dubai

March 8, 2006

We already knew that Bill and Hillary Clinton have no shame, but now we know that Bill has been advising the Dubai government on how to get their port deal done. Of course, Bill Clinton does little without being paid and he has been paid handsomely by the government of Dubai for speeches he has made.

Hillary claims not to have known what bill was doing with Dubai, though she signed her tax form that indicated his six figure speaking fees.

What in the world is a former president doing advising a foreign government on how to circumvent congress on a matter of extreme importance to the security of the United States? Hillary says she against the port deal and bill says he’s for it. Meanwhile the checks clear and she gets political mileage out of her position.

Clinton also tried to get the Dubai government to hire his former press secretary, Joe Lockhart, as a lobbyist. The Dubai government refused.

Clinton should register as a lobbyist if he is going to try to lobby congress directly, or indirectly. Are there no limits to what he will do? Apparently not.
