Tomorrow is the recall vote for Governor Scott Walker of Wisconsin. Polls show Walker will defeat the Democrat candidate and the unions which are trying to preserve a benefits system the state can no longer afford.
This is a critical election because it shows the power of common sense over endless spending. If Walker wins, he will be the new hero of the Republican party and show the way to other states what can be done to reverse overspending and record debt. "We can't afford it" could become the new mantra. It might even stretch to Washington and the federal government, which has been living beyond our means for decades under presidents and Congresses of both parties.
The University of Wisconsin fight song contains these lyrics: "On Wisconsin, on Wisconsin, fight on her her fame. Fight, fellows, fight, fight, fight, we'll win this game." Except tomorrow's vote in Wisconsin is not a game. The economic future of the state is at hand. On Wisconsin!
