No Time for Diplomatic Nonsense

What are we to make of Justice Department charges that agents of Iran tried to assassinate the Saudi ambassador to the United States in a Washington restaurant?

Just this: Iran is our sworn enemy and is plotting not only to wipe out Israel, but cause major damage to our way of life by targeting Americans on our own soil for mass murder.

The State Department, as usual, rules out any military retaliation and speaks only diplomatic nonsense. But this is an act of war and our government, along with the spineless Europeans and others in the world who care about freedom, had better recognize it as such and do whatever they can to bring down the regime of Ahmadinejad and his fanatical mullahs.

It's long past time for consoling ourselves that the "majority of Muslims" are peace-loving. That's irrelevant when some are planning an attack using weapons of mass destruction. They are good at knowing us better than we know them, but we'd better wise up. They are serious about killing us.

Once again, we were lucky in foiling this plot, and the FBI and DEA deserve praise. But the terrorists have to be lucky once.

I'm Cal Thomas in Washington.
