No Interest in the Outside World

September 10, 2007

Here’s a little item that ought to concern you. It concerns me.

Two-thirds of American adults admit to being ignorant about political issues outside the United States. Only one-third claim to be well-versed in domestic politics. This, according to a Harris poll that surveyed 2,225 adults between July 8 and 13th.

Again, according to the poll, one reason for the knowledge gap is lack of interest. Well over half of the respondents said they do not like learning about political issues in other countries and 32 percent expressed a lack of interest in U.S. political issues.

Now you know why we have the government we do. If people don’t care about the leadership, they’ll get leadership that cares more about the leaders than they people.

These are people who can take your money through taxation and misspend it. They can send your kids off to war. And so many of you don’t care? We’d better start caring or we are going to wind up with a nightmare for our next President.
