Kitty Kelley Book Is Perfect Timing for Liberal Democrats

September 9, 2004

I'll bet you thought the presidential campaign couldn't get any dirtier. Wrong!

Kitty Kelley is publishing a new book called "The Family: The Real Story of the Bush Dynasty."

She will appear for three straight mornings on The Today Show next week.

The book appears to be full of unnamed sources testifying to illegal drug use by President Bush more than 30 years ago.

One of the sources is said to be Sharon Bush, ex-wife of Neil Bush, one of the president's brothers.

Kelley has had a checkered career in dealing dirt about Nancy Reagan, the British Royal family and Frank Sinatra.

She gets a lot of attention because her claims and charges are often outrageous.

Coming in the midst of an election season and with the liberal media looking for ways to blunt the president's improving ratings, the Kelley book is perfect timing for liberal democrats.

There's more coming. Former Texas Lt. Governor Ben Barnes claims he helped get the president a National Guard slot by pulling strings.

Barnes had his own scandal in Houston 30-plus years ago.

And so it goes. Voters would do well to consider the source of these things.
