Keeping in Step with the World, Not the Spirit

August 14, 2007

What happens to a church that labors to keep up with the world? This is what happens.

The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America has passed a resolution allowing its homosexual clergy who are in same-sex relationships to serve as pastors. The resolution, passed at the denomination’s convention in Chicago, urged bishops to refrain from disciplining pastors who are in what it called “faithful, committed, same-gender relationships.” The vote was 538 in favor and 431 opposed.

If the 431 have any integrity and care what God says in His Word about men and women, sex and marriage, they will come out from among the 538 and affiliate themselves somewhere else where the Bible is believed.

God doesn’t ask what we think, nor does He respond to resolutions. He tells us what He thinks and requires us to comply if we want to be His. What do these Evangelical Lutherans preach? The same book that tells of Jesus Christ also speaks of how God wants us to order our lives. If His Word is wrong about sexuality, it can’t be relied on for anything else. This is an embarrassment and these Lutherans should be ashamed.
