In the Midst of WWIII

It’s been a few days since the pictures of the beheading of Nick Berg. In Europe last week, I saw a bit more of the scene than they showed on American television, but not the act, itself.

I don’t need to. I still see the barbarities these evil men committed on September 11, 2001. Remember the people who jumped from the top floors of the World Trade Center rather than burn to death?

Maybe some people thought I was kidding or ignorant when I said shortly after 9/11 that we were in the midst of World War Three.

These people think they can break us with pictures and murder. They think we lack resolve and fear death, while they desire and embrace death.

Here’s a question. Have you seen any spontaneous demonstrations in American streets by Muslims protesting Berg’s murder; any statements from their clerics in our country, other than the pro forma ones from activist organizations that don’t mean them?

Let’s hope and pray that our leaders have a plan for eradicating these criminals, because our way of life is threatened.

I’m Cal Thomas in Washington.
