Immigration: the Fiasco Continues

May 18, 2006

The immigration fiasco continues. Hundreds of so-called pro-immigration lobbyists are in Washington. They want more illegals allowed in the country. Mexican President Vincent Fox has threatened a lawsuit in U.S. courts of the illegals are effectively stopped. Imagine that! And yet Mexican laws prohibit Americans from doing in that country what Mexicans are doing in this country.

President Bush says he’ll send the already stretched national guard to backup new and existing border patrol agents, but we haven’t heard what authority they’ll have or what actions they can take to stop illegals. And polls show a continuing drop in the approval of the administration and of republicans in general.

I’m not surprised. When you try to please everybody, you please nobody. The republicans have been outspending democrats and have tried to capture the Hispanic vote by allowing more illegals into America. In the process they are going to lose the votes of many of us already here. It is pathetic that politicians would mortgage the future of their country for votes and their careers. Those careers may soon be over and they will deserve it.
