People who want to cut government over-spending usually get this from liberals in the media and on Capitol Hill: "Where would you cut?" The question isn't serious because the questioner is merely trying to set a trap. If it's a small amount, they say it wouldn't matter. If it's a large amount, a constituency group charges you are being unfair and don't care about the poor and the children.
How about cutting the study of cow burping? University of New Hampshire and outside researchers are creating a computer model to help organize dairy farmers reduce greenhouse gasses by reducing cow burps. Naturally this is being paid for with our tax dollars. Never mind the growing body of science that shows global warming is a fiction. The true believers push on.
This little program is costing us $700,000. Not much when we face a $14 trillion debt, but cutting it would be a start. And these little ones can add up fast.
