Half-hearted Apology

November 3, 2006

Senator John Kerry offered a half-hearted apology for his remarks that only the uneducated are fighting in Iraq. His comment was not the first time he has disparaged our troops. Shortly after returning from Vietnam, Kerry claimed he had witnessed rape, torture and mass murder by his fellow soldiers. He had not, but his comments gave aid and comfort to the communists who were still killing Americans.

In fact, it’s the pattern of liberals to rundown the military. Also in 1972, Kerry said he opposed an all-volunteer army because it would be dominated by the underprivileged, be less accountable and be more prone to “the perpetuation of war crimes.” Nice, huh?

The Clinton administration was full of people who regularly disparaged the military. Illinois senator Dick Durbin last year accused the American military of treating detainees at Guantanamo bay, Cuba like the Nazis, Soviets in their gulags and Pol Pot with little concern for human rights.

I’ve just returned from Guantanamo and can tell you that’s a lie, as is most of what liberals say about our troops. So, it’s part of a pattern for liberals to disdain the military. Think about that as you vote on Tuesday.
