Giving the Iraqis a Chance

June 24, 2004

It looks like American forces successfully struck a so-called safe house of the terrorist named Zarqawi. As many as two-dozen terrorists were killed in the attack.

Apparently our intelligence is improving in the region and that is very good.

Zarqawi has threatened to assassinate the interim prime minister who, in turn, has promised to do whatever it takes to root out, arrest or kill the terrorists.

What is going to be good to see is the Iraqis doing this for themselves instead of the Americans.

As Iraqis are trained and equipped to do the job, the American and world left wing will be denied one of their most important weapons in attacking the Bush administration. That's because we will see (hopefully) Iraqis fighting for their own country and their own future.

We have given them that chance.

One week from today when the handover of sovereignty is official, we will see if they can keep it and give Iraqis a chance at a new life and a real future.

The enemies of freedom will continue to do all they can to make sure they do not succeed.
