Getting Away With It

What troubles me most about the deal brokered between President Clinton and the independent counsel, Robert Ray, is that once again, President Clinton is getting away with breaking the law.

He makes a statement confessing what everyone already knew he lied in sworn testimony before a grand jury and a federal judge. He accepts the suspension, but not revocation, of his law license for five years. But we still dont know everything about what this administration has done or the various cover-ups and obstruction of justice.

Meanwhile, what about all of his defenders these last eight years, from Hillary Clinton, to James Carville, Paul Begala, Mike McCurry, the entire congressional black caucus, Barney Frank and legions in the media. All of them charged us who tried to hold this president accountable as part of a vast right-wing conspiracy. Will all of these apologize? Of course they wont. Were moving forward now and Bill gets to start charging six figures for speeches.

What a pathetic legacy. What a pathetic President and media. Lets not let any of them forget.
