Favoring the Immigrants

There isn’t much that offends me anymore, but this does.

Hundreds of illegal aliens demonstrated in Washington Tuesday for affordable college tuition. They want to pay what legal residents of states pay and not the out of state charges imposed on students who aren’t legal citizens of the United States.

The aliens, who were dressed in caps and gowns like graduates, want Congress to pass something called “The Dream Act,” a bill sponsored by Republican Senator Orrin Hatch and the Student Adjustment Act, sponsored by California Democratic Congressman Lucille Roybal-Allard. These would repeal federal law that discourages states from offering the children of illegal immigrants in-state tuition fees.

Would someone please explain to me why illegal aliens are supposed to get a benefit denied to citizens of the United States?

Passing these bills will simply encourage even more illegals to come and further burden the taxpayers who are already subsidizing residents of their own states with lower tuition. It’s an outrage and offensive.

I’m Cal Thomas in Washington.
