The Family Research Council Shooting and the Media Double Standard

The shooting of a security guard in the lobby of the Family Research Council produced a predictable reaction. Oh, the media reluctantly noted the alleged shooter volunteered at a local lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender help center. The guard was wounded in the arm but managed to wrestle the man to the floor and keep him from causing further damage.

Imagine for a moment if the shooter had been an employee of the Family Research Council and his target had been the LGBT center. You know what would have happened. The shooting would have been denounced as a hate crime. The Justice Department would get involved, President Obama would issue a statement, and homosexuals would be interviewed and tell stories of hate and discrimination directed against them. Given the nature of our secular and left-wing media, is there any doubt that would have been their approach?

The media made sure everyone knew the FRC is a "conservative" organization that opposes abortion and supports traditional marriage. Police say the man said he opposes what they stand for. Obviously!
