Discrimination Against Christians: This is Where We are in America

A pastor who was scheduled to deliver the benediction at President Obama's second inauguration has been disinvited. The reason? Some years ago he preached a sermon saying what the Bible says about homosexuality. So Louie Giglio is out, to the delight of the thought police in the liberal establishment who think all speech should be tolerated except speech they disagree with.

Giglio is pastor of a large church in Atlanta.

This is where we are in America. Discrimination against serious Christians who believe the Bible is God's word is on the rise. No surprise there. Scripture tells us the end times will contain this and much more. America, a country that not only tolerated but promoted Christian values, now opposes them and seeks to silence those who have a different point of view.

Frankly, I'm glad Giglio is not praying. What would he pray for? Would he ask God to bless the most pro-gay, pro-abortion president in history? To me the most frightening words of Scripture are found in Romans: "And God gave them over." The only prayer that would matter at this inauguration is a prayer for revival. That is the only road back for this country.

I'm Cal Thomas.
