By Faith, Not By Sight

One year from tomorrow, January 20, 2013, we'll either have a new president, or the same one for another four years. I think you know my preference, but let's step back a minute and look at things from God's perspective.

Those of us who are followers of Jesus should remember what He said, chiefly: "My kingdom is not of this world." Do we think by electing one person that will make a significant difference in our moral and cultural life? If so, why did the administrations of Ronald Reagan and both Bushes not bring significant change?

No, we get the leaders who reflect our spiritual condition. If we worship things and pleasure, we will get leaders who reflect those false gods. The problem isn't here in Washington; it's in our hearts.

I hope you'll read my newspaper column today, either in your local paper if they carry it, or on various websites, including CalThomas.com. I call it "Not By Sight, But By Faith." It's challenging, and you may say "Yes, but," however, I think if you believe the scriptures you will have to agree.

I'm Cal Thomas in Washington.
