Building for Another Kingdom

The District of Columbia has become the latest jurisdiction to sanction same-sex marriage. Gays will be able to start applying for marriage licenses today. The office will no longer refer to husband and wife, but to spouse.

This is a battle that was lost some time ago, when people stopped fearing God. But the world does what the world does. Read the passages in Daniel and Revelation where believers are told not to be concerned about the unredeemed because they are going to do what they do anyway on their way to destruction. Let the holy continue to be holy and the unholy continue to be unholy.

Christians, especially, have spent far too much time and money trying to prop up a failing culture. We have not spent enough time building the kingdom not of this world whose foundation is God and his Word.

The late E.V. Hill preached a sermon called "The Broad and Narrow Way." He said there's a lot of company on the broad road but they don't tell you where it leads: to destruction. Believers are on the narrow road that leads to life. Don't despair. Everything is right on schedule.
