As the One Enthroned Laughs

November 5, 2008

It’s over. Two years of nonstop politics. This is being written and recorded before the results are known, but there was little doubt how this election would turn out. It is a Democratic year and the Republicans blew their chance. They have no one to blame but themselves.

Still, God is in charge of all things. He’s got the whole world in his hands. Nothing escapes his notice and nothing man can do is outside his will.

So, regardless of who you voted for and how you feel this morning, consider the ancient wisdom of Psalm 2:

“Why do the nations conspire and the peoples plot in vain? The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers gather together against the Lord and against his Anointed One. ‘Let us break their chains,’ they say, ‘and throw off their fetters.’

“The One enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord scoffs at them. Then he rebukes them in his anger and terrifies them in his wrath, saying, ‘I have installed my King on Zion, my holy hill.’”

That king is neither Obama, nor McCain. It is Jesus Christ the Lord. Never forget that.
