A Simple Plan

December 16, 2005

Nothing succeeds like success and the huge voter turnout in Iraq yesterday to pick a new national assembly is a success by any standard. Now the behind the scenes work begins forming coalitions, making agreements and compromises in order to build a government.

While liberals in America continue to criticize the Bush administration for supposedly having no plan – this is the plan: defeat the insurgents and establish a government that will keep them under control; free the Iraqi people and prevent Iraq from become a terrorist base. If a free Iraq can put pressure on Iran and Syria to reform their governments, allowing their people a chance at freedom, that’s a bonus.

The American and European left don’t want this effort to succeed because they don’t want President Bush to succeed. That would mean they would lose. Political power means everything to them and they pursue it at the cost of freedom for others. How else to judge their attitude over this war against tyrants and terrorists?
