A Good Friday Reflection

The problems of this nation, indeed the problems of the world, are rooted in sin. On Good Friday, we observe the moment in history when sin was dealth with – fully and completely and forever. The perfect Lamb of God, which John the Baptist said takes away the sin of the world, freely laid down his life at Calvary for the redemption of all who place their faith and trust in Him.

No politicians can overcome sin, or our sin nature. No amount of money can eradicate sin. Only the blood of Christ can do that.

As you observe Good Friday and especially Easter Sunday – which a billboard I’ve seen calls "The Real Super Sunday" – consider where real power comes from to change lives. It doesn't come from Washington. It comes from the cross and an empty tomb. Rejoice as you remember and celebrate the greatest observance in the Christian life. For, as Paul said, if Christ did not rise, then we are still dead in our sins. Happy easter! He is risen!! I'm Cal Thomas in Washington.
