Vicar of Baghdad Warns Westerners Not to Join 'Hopeless' Christian Militia Against ISIS

Some Western Christians are moving to Iraq and Syria to join a Christian militia that hopes to defeat ISIS. The militia, called Dwekh Nawsha, has joined with Kurdish forces to protect villages in Nineveh province.

Canon Andrew of White, the so-called “Vicar of Baghdad,” is urging Westerners not to join the Christian army, explaining that the group is “hopeless” against ISIS.

Christians are "universally hopeless at fighting, let alone fighting ISIS,” White said, according to The Christian Post.

"Christians are no good at being soldiers. If going to join the new militia makes them feel good, great. But it will achieve absolutely nothing. We are dealing with an evil, evil regime as we saw in Libya with the beheadings of the Coptic Christians. There is very little that any Iraqi Christian or British Christian can do to help. The best thing they can do is stay at home," he continued.

At the same time, the Pentagon has refused to back Egyptian airstrikes on ISIS targets in retaliation of the beheading of 21 Coptic Christians.

Breitbart reports that Pentagon press secretary Rear Adm. John Kirby said, “We aren’t taking a position here in the Pentagon on these recent strikes by Egypt…We weren’t notified ahead of time. We didn’t participate or support them in any way, and we’re not taking a position on it.”

Another unidentified government official said, “We are neither condemning nor condoning” Egypt’s attacks on ISIS.
