Trump under Fire for Saying Israel Needs to 'Sacrifice Certain Things'

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is under fire for a statement he made in an interview, saying that Israel has to be willing to “sacrifice certain things” in order for peace to be achieved.

U.S.-born Israeli author and Middle East expert David Rubin warns voters that Trump’s remarks are a red flag.

“It seems to be at the very least a yellow light," said Rubin, according to One News Now, adding that other Republican candidates such as Ted Cruz, Ben Carson, and Marco Rubio have been “a little more consistent” in their support of Israel.

In reference to Trump’s comment, Rubio stated, “Some in our own party actually call for more sacrifice from the Israeli people. They are dead wrong and they don't understand the enduring bond between Israel and America.”

While speaking to a group of Jewish Republicans, Trump said that his comment had been that “people will have to make sacrifices.”

However, some in the audience didn’t seem to be convinced. When Trump deferred to answer the question of whether he believes Jerusalem is the “undivided capital” of Israel, some in the audience booed, though Trump did acknowledge that Israel has “given a lot” in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
